The Summer Season Is Finally Beginning
This weekend sees the start of delivering physical paintings to the gallery again. Woohoo!
Tomorrow 2 paintings are going to Solas Art Gallery in Ballinamore for the Members Summer Exhibition and then on Sunday I will deliver my large painting entitled 'FreeBird' which was selected for the Artlink Members Show 2021, 'Bring the Mind Home' curated by Kaitlynn Webster. This exhibition runs until the 26th June.
All members were asked to respond to the theme 'Turas ' meaning journey.
"Unfold your wings little dove and soar.
Face your fears brave soul and embrace the final journey to delivery" - Maria Noonan-McDermott
In mythology, the caladrius was a bird who according to tradition had the power to absorb disease and pain from the human. It would then fly away, dispelling the illness and curing the sick person and itself in the process. When it drew out the illness it would fly up to the sun, where the disease or worry would be incinerated. Some scholars think the caladrius was based upon a real bird, possibly a dove!
'Bring the Mind Home' will open on 3 June. There won't be an official Opening reception but the show will be invigilated daily 10am-4pm with a maximum of 10 people at one time.
